Jonathan Fisher QC and Anita Clifford’s recent article on fiscal inequality in the extractive industries in Africa has been published in the New Law Journal. In International justice: some African countries are hurting, following their trip to Nairobi, they reflected on issues including transfer pricing, stabilisation contracts and corruption. They explore the damaging impact of these practices on some African countries, and the injustice of financial benefit from natural resources being directed away from them. Jonathan and Anita’s participation in the dialogue enabled them to learn from government ministers from a variety of countries who had direct experience of these issues arising in contract negotiation. The article is a thoughtful combination of this insight and their expertise in financial and corporate crime.
